On the return trip from the Undara National Park, we came across a Variety Club fund raising walk. A lone rider was travelling from Inverel to Cooktown raising funds for disadvantaged children. This shot shows Susan chatting to the support driver waiting for his washing to dry before catching up with the rider who was several kilometres up the road.

In the evening we camped near the Burdekin river crossing close to "The Valley of Lagoons" station. Here you catch a glimpse of the majesty of the large Tea trees on the bank. Oh, I'm doing a spot of sooty grunter fishing as well. There was a fresh in the Burdekin which didn't help my lure fishing. (result 1 sooty) This location was to fill with many campers over the next few days as the school holidays were due to start.

Our campsite at "The Cricket Grounds" on the Burdekin river. The weather was quite cool and the following morning had a heavy mist, this shot was made with the mist still about.

Posted by PicasaThe final leg of the trip home proved very interesting when we came upon Joan Rylah with her three horses. She and her husband are traversing the Bi-Centenial Trail (a horse and walking track) which starts in Cooktown and proceeds all the way to Victoria and then begins again in Tasmania. They expect to take a year to complete the trip. The cyclones and bad weather had disrupted their schedule and they were pushing fairly hard to make up time.
